'International Passenger Terminal Construction in Busan North Port Redevelopment(BNPR) Phase 1-2' area for ships berthing was completed on Nov.3.
The construction project was undertaken under the plan to transfer International Passenger Terminal at Busan Port due to reorganization of the port's function and to its worn-out facilities under BNPR Phase 1-2. A total of 55.1 billion won has been invested in constructing 3rd pier of 197m length and 4th pier of 520m length along with a cruising berth of 360m length and seawall levee of 117m length. These provide a berth to accommodate a 100,000gt class cruising ship and three berths for 20,000gt class passenger ships.
A Busan official of Regional Maritime Affairs and Port Office said : " The completion of the piers and berthing facilities for cruising vessels provides basic equipment and facilities at a right time to open and an international passenger terminal in 2015. These newly built terminal and berthing facilities are expected to contribute to benefiting passengers visiting Busan.
