According to the Incheon Port Authority, Incheon port handled 81,537 TEU of cargoes in February. The results increased about 27% as compared with February last year. As compared with the same period of 2004, handled cargoes increased about 15%.
Accumulated handled containers for January and February increased 24% as compared with the same period of last year. Especially, containers for China increased about 50.3% as compared with February of last year, recording 44,009 TEU.
For the month, February always records low handling cargoes because of it being a short month and also off-peak. Despite this, the port recorded 1,500,000 TEU, increasing 27% for the period, maintaining its record from last year, and reaching a new-mark.
Meanwhile, new car export cargoes stood at only 16,465 because the GM Daewoo Bupyoung factory decreased output. That number represent only 67% of the amount from the same period of last year. Used car exports were 4,530, down by 27%.
The port handled 10,053 tonnes, increasing 9% over alst year (9,181 tonnes) for the month.
