Businesses in the electronics and semiconductor sectors will have a good year next year, while those in textiles and construction may struggle, an industrial forecast showed These days.
According to the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry's report on industrial performance this year and predictions for next year, recovery is most certain in the electronics and chip fields, for which there is great demand from abroad.
On the other hand, key sectors like textiles, construction and oil refining will remain sluggish due to the continuing slump at home, although their exports will be fairly strong, the chamber predicts.
At home, demand is seen to balloon for electronic materials and general machinery, as many Koreans trade in their old appliances for digital upgrades and corporations invest heftily in facilities. The sales revenue at home for the two industries are estimated to grow 10.2 percent and 7.5 percent, respectively, from this year.
The report also paints a rosy picture for the automobile sector, which has had a very bad year so far. The report says domestic sales will jump 15.2 percent.
