2003 sees slight increase in cargoes |

According to a recent MOMAF report, cargoes in national ports have increased slightly. The marginal increase was due to a series of KCWF strikes in May October and continous rales deflation.
MOMAF announced September 30th that by August, the number of ships calling at port increased 6.1% over last year. Year to date estimates tallied 46,726 forelgn ships and 80,830 domestic ones. Cargoes through Korean ports increased 5.2% over last year, and are estimated at 637,066,000 ton.
Figures by sector : a 3.2% increase in export cargoes, for 102,542,000 tons, a 2.4% increases in import cargoes, 284,484,000 tons, a 5.1% increase in domestic cargoes, for 191,786,000 tons and an amazing 27.5% increase for transit cargoes, 58,165,000 tons.
Figures by port : Pusan port 122,129,000 tons. Gwangyang port 114,524,000 tons, Ulsan port 98,277,000 tons, and Inchon port 86,414,000 tons. | |
